The Portage.
I was lucky enough to attend a special tasting event at the new Portage Park restaurant, The Portage, the other night. Inside you'll be met by clean lines, deep reds, and cool greys. The decor is welcoming, not too feminine, but also not too manly...just right. Up front is a handful of intimate tables, followed by a lovely bar area that leads into a comfy lounge area that feels warm and inviting.
Now I can't talk about a restaurant without talking about the food! First up, fries cooked in duck fat. The fries are left with just a hint of duck flavor. Yum! Crabcakes were lovely...don't miss out on these. I had the kobe burger with grilled onion and a big ol' slice of gouda cheese...huuuge portions...eat half and save the rest for the next day. And for the finale, creme brulee and homemade shortbread with fresh fruit and whipping cream. Both were lick the plate worthy! Ok, so what are you waiting for? Head out to The Portage for dinner! You won't be disappointed.
